Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
After the first two rounds of the competition, Lazio have justifiably topped the group table, securing two emphatic victories over formidable opponents. Their trip to face FC Twente, who have only managed to collect two points from a possible six, is not expected to pose a serious challenge for the Roman side, who are considered the underdogs of the match.
Twente
Since their draw at Old Trafford against Manchester United (1:1), Twente have managed just one win in five outings. Against Fenerbahçe (1:1) at home, they attempted to dominate (1.71 vs 0.84 in xG), but the experienced Turkish side held them to a draw. Throughout October, Twente's defence has shown instability, conceding five goals in three matches.
Lazio
On Saturday, Lazio had their four-match winning streak snapped against Juventus (0:1), where they had scored at least two goals in each of their previous victories. The team largely fell short in Turin due to the early dismissal of Alessio Romagnoli, and Juventus found the net only in the dying moments. In the Europa League, Lazio have performed impeccably, defeating Dynamo Kyiv (3:0) and OGC Nice (4:1) with a combined xG of 4.07, with no fewer than four players contributing at least two goal involvements each.
Twente vs Lazio Prediction
In the Netherlands, Lazio are unlikely to fall to Twente. The Roman club will look to make amends to their fans after the weekend's disappointment, particularly given that their upcoming opponents are not seen as a significant threat. Nonetheless, it's advisable to play it safe with a double chance.
