Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Eredivisie match.
This is the standout fixture of Matchday 30 in the Eredivisie. Both Twente and PSV Eindhoven are vying for European qualification. While PSV Eindhoven are unlikely to catch league leaders Ajax at this stage, with a mathematical chance still intact, they cannot afford to drop points.
Twente
Twente are unlikely to improve on their current fifth-place position. The gap to fourth-placed Utrecht is 11 points, although they do have a game in hand. Having recently competed in the UEFA Europa League, the squad would prefer to secure direct qualification rather than go through the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs. However, recent performances have been unconvincing. The team dropped points in four consecutive matches, failing to win any and collecting only two points from draws against mid-table opponents Fortuna Sittard (1:1) and PEC Zwolle (1:1).
PSV Eindhoven
PSV Eindhoven’s league form suffered during their involvement in the UEFA Champions League play-offs. During that stretch, they lost valuable ground domestically. They were beaten by Go Ahead Eagles both in the Eredivisie and in the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup. These setbacks came during the transitional period between winter and spring. Since their Champions League elimination at the hands of Arsenal, PSV Eindhoven have responded with three dominant league wins, scoring a combined total of 11 goals while conceding just one. The only major disappointment in this run was a significant home defeat to Ajax (0:2), a result that will be remembered as a missed opportunity.
Twente vs PSV Eindhoven Prediction
Twente may be stronger than the likes of RKC Waalwijk, Groningen or Almere City, but PSV Eindhoven remain highly driven. Given the current form and motivation, the hosts are unlikely to avoid defeat.
