Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Europa League match.
The fifth round of the Europa League will feature what could almost be considered a Benelux derby. In the overall tournament standings, both teams are quite close: the Dutch side are 27th, while the Belgian side are 30th. Both desperately need points.
Twente
Twente have occasionally dropped points, but they are now on a five-match unbeaten streak across all competitions. This can already be deemed a success, as they were previously on a four-match winless run. This momentum keeps them in contention for the Champions League spots in their national league. In nearly every game, Twente score two goals, as seen against Ajax (2:2) in the Eredivisie and Nice (2:2) in the Europa League. However, conceding remains an unresolved issue in the last three matches.
Union Saint-Gilloise
Union's situation is less optimistic. They are experiencing a downturn and stagnation. In the Pro League, after another draw, this time with Leuven (1:1), they slipped two places to ninth. In the Europa League group stage, Union Saint-Gilloise are also still only experiencing losses. The main issue is a lack of goals, with just 0.5 per game. They failed to score against Bodø/Glimt and Midtjylland, which is quite surprising.
Twente vs Union Saint-Gilloise Prediction
Twente players are sure to breach Union's goalkeeper. Will it happen the other way around? It's doubtful. The hosts are expected to win, but we will play it safe and bet on Twente with a zero handicap.
