Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
The Ukraine national team finally claimed a win in a group they arguably have the talent to lead. Yet, even with this victory, they remain at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic have a chance to seek revenge, with the match taking place in neighbouring Poland.
Ukraine
Their win over Georgia in the previous game was hard-fought. The speed and dribbling skills of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were evident, but the opponents’ defence held strong. Ukraine's single goal came from a mistake by Giorgi Kochorashvili, which allowed Mykhailo Mudryk to pick up the ball and execute a slaloming run to score with a precise shot to the near corner past Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Chelsea forward had an outstanding match and was a constant threat, deservedly earning the MVP title. Ukraine secured the win despite having only two shots on target, while Georgia managed just four.
Czech Republic
In the third round of the Nations League, the Czech Republic convincingly outperformed Albania. The 2-0 scoreline did not fully capture their dominance. They had 19 shots compared to Albania's seven and created five times more chances (1.49-0.28 xG). Tomáš Chorý, the Slavia Prague forward, scored twice, opening the scoring as early as the third minute. However, in their first encounter in Tbilisi, Georgia triumphed 4:1, capitalising on speed with their first two goals coming from counter-attacks.
Ukraine vs Czech Republic Prediction
Ukraine managed to handle Georgia, who have become a formidable force, but the Czech Republic remain a substantial threat despite their loss to Georgia. Ukraine must also remember their 2:3 defeat to the Czechs in the first game. This contest could go in any of three directions, and if there's a victor, it will likely be by a margin of one goal. Nevertheless, we believe that support will play its part, despite the neutral venue, and the nominal hosts will at least avoid defeat.
