Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2024 UEFA Euro qualifying play-offs match.
Ukraine
Unlike Iceland, who easily advanced to the final, Ukraine were about to be eliminated in the semi-final game versus Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ukraine seem to live what they’ve learned. The national side created only 0.04 xG in the first half of the match versus Bosnia, with 63% of ball possession. After Matviyenko scored an own goal in the 56th minute, Ukraine woke up. They started to make more attacks, with Yaremchuk turning the game upside down. He scored a goal and made an assist to help his team advance to the final.
Iceland
Iceland surprisingly easily beat Israel. After Zahavi scored a goal, Gudmundsson and Traustason helped Iceland to have a lead. Revivo was sent off in the 73rd minute, Zahavi missed from the penalty spot. Eventually, Iceland won 4:1. They created 1.97 xG with 15 attempts on goal.
Ukraine – Iceland prediction
Ukraine is a stronger opponent compared to Israel. The odds speak for themselves, Ukraine will have enough chances to win the game and qualify for the UEFA Euro.
