Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Volleyball World Championship match.
The final quarter-final brings together two sides who have impressed at this tournament.
USA
In the round of 16 the Americans delivered a composed performance against Slovenia (3:1). Gabriel Garcia was outstanding with 26 points, including seven aces and four blocks. The USA also showcased their defensive discipline, producing 10 successful blocks in that match.
Bulgaria
Bulgaria brushed aside Portugal (3:0) in their first knockout tie, though the opposition offered little resistance. Even so, captain Aleksandar Nikolov had to carry the team, scoring 19 points. He has averaged 22.5 points per game at this tournament, but the reliance on him is glaring – there is little secondary scoring support in the squad.
USA vs Bulgaria Prediction
The USA’s blocking strength makes them well equipped to neutralise a one-man attack. If they contain Nikolov, Bulgaria’s chances all but vanish. This looks like a straightforward assignment for the Americans.
