Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Valencia remain firmly in contention for a European place. They have hit form at a crucial point in the season, narrowing the gap to those occupying continental qualification spots. Getafe, while still mathematically in the chase for seventh or eighth position, have shown little in recent performances to suggest they can close that gap.
Valencia
Valencia are unbeaten in nine straight matches, collecting 19 points over that run. Their attacking output has been particularly impressive, scoring in all nine fixtures — a sequence that includes a notable 2:1 victory over Real Madrid. At Mestalla, Valencia have been strong, winning six of their last eight home games, with their sole defeat coming against Club Atlético. Hugo Duro has been a key figure in attack, scoring 10 goals this season, including a brace in the recent 3:2 win against Las Palmas.
Getafe
Getafe, by contrast, are faltering as the season nears its end. They’ve lost four consecutive matches. During that stretch, they have produced just 5.5 xG and scored only once — that lone goal coming against struggling Las Palmas. Defensively, the issues have compounded. Since mid-February, Getafe have conceded 14 goals in 11 league games, a sharp decline after allowing just 17 in their previous 23 fixtures.
Valencia vs Getafe Prediction
Valencia are in form and chasing a European berth. Getafe, meanwhile, continue to underperform and are finding it difficult to find the net. With momentum and quality on their side, Valencia should be expected to take all three points. Having already held their own against some of the league’s elite, Valencia will be confident of seeing off Getafe.
