Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
On Matchday 3 in La Liga on 29 August 2025, Valencia will try to end their poor run at home against Getafe. However, Getafe have made a pleasantly surprising start to the season.
Valencia
Valencia have lost key defensive personnel and do not look a cohesive unit. Giorgi Mamardashvili and Cristhian Mosquera left the club, and without them the defence has made glaring errors. In the last match against Osasuna, a collapse on the back line led to defeat and captain José Gayà was sent off. Even so, the attack led by Arnaut Danjuma and Diego López is creating chances; even down to ten men the hosts could have levelled. However, finishing remains a problem — 2.45 xG across two matchdays and only one goal scored.
Getafe
Getafe have impressed. Two wins to open La Liga, four scored and only one conceded. José Bordalás has sharpened the attacking structure, the team uses inventive corner routines and breaks swiftly in transition. The new leading light is 20-year-old Adrián Liso, who has already scored three and leads the scoring charts. Getafe take a defence-first approach, sit deep and look to counter, averaging 30% possession, while across two matchdays they have allowed opponents only 1.24 xG.
Valencia vs Getafe Prediction
Right now Valencia are in worse form. Getafe are scoring every matchday and look in good form, so the visitors are well placed at least to avoid defeat.
