Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
The concluding fixture of the upcoming round in Italian football will see Venezia take on Lecce. Both teams are at the lower end of the table and desperately need points to escape the relegation zone, yet they face challenges in their attacking line-ups.
Venezia
After spirited encounters with Monza (2:2) and Udinese (2:3), Venezia stumbled against the barriers of Inter Milan (0:1) and Parma (1:2). Against another Serie A newcomer, Venezia created more chances (1.30 – 0.95 in xG), but once again their finishing let them down. Based on expected goals, Venezia should have scored four more times than their current tally of 11 from 14.83 xG.
Lecce
Despite being higher in the standings than their upcoming opponents, Lecce have even more significant issues on the pitch. In 13 matches this season, they have failed to score in nine, highlighting their struggles in front of goal. In November, against Bologna (0:1) and Empoli (1:1), they generated 2.26 xG in total and managed only three shots on target. To compound their problems, Lecce lost their key winger Lameck Banda to injury during the 12th round, weakening an already fragile attacking force.
Venezia vs Lecce Prediction
The final Serie A match of the round is unlikely to entertain neutral viewers with a plethora of dangerous opportunities. Venezia and Lecce are expected to create few chances, and neither team will score more than two goals.
