Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the UEFA Nations League match.
The Welsh national team seem more suited to playing at the League B level than in League A, from which they were relegated. A home victory appears likely given the odds favouring them. However, Turkey also seemed like a sure bet, yet their three points were hard-earned.
Wales
The Welsh team narrowly avoided an incredible defeat in their last round against Iceland. They were up 2:0 by the half-hour mark but conceded twice in the second half, with the second goal ricocheting off the goalkeeper in a hockey-style manner. Not only did they draw—they could have lost, with an Icelandic forward hitting the woodwork in the 90th minute. While this doesn't flatter the team's defence, it's worth noting that it happened on an away trip. At home, they're solid: in their last five home matches, they haven't lost, recording two wins and three draws.
Montenegro
One thing's for sure: Wales will score against either Igor Nikic or his replacement in goal. Since last autumn, Montenegro have played 13 matches and conceded in 10 of them, allowing more than one goal on eight occasions. The only way they could avoid conceding might be if Wales stop playing, but they're bound to play at full capacity after their last round's slip-up.
Wales vs Montenegro Prediction
Wales are among the eight teams who managed to score at least twice against Montenegro, with their Nations League match ending 2:1 in Montenegro. Everything points to the Welsh scoring at least as much again and securing the win.
