Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the WNBA match.
After securing three consecutive home victories in Minneapolis, the Minnesota Lynx embark on a brief road trip to the East Coast. Their first stop is Washington, where the Washington Mystics are attempting to climb off the bottom of the standings.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics continue to struggle when facing the WNBA’s top-tier squads. They have won three of its last five games, but those wins came against the Dallas Wings (91:88 in overtime), the Chicago Sky (79:72), and the Connecticut Sun (104:67) — all of whom are currently considered underdogs. The main issue for the team has been their defence when playing stronger opponents. For example, the Atlanta Dream put up 92 and 89 points in two encounters with the team over the span of a single week.
Minnesota Lynx
There were significant concerns over whether the Minnesota Lynx could maintain their form without Napheesa Collier. However, their most recent game showed they are more than capable — and in convincing fashion. Kayla McBride put in a standout performance, scoring 29 points in just 30 minutes. Importantly, Maria Kliundikova finally made her debut, contributing 12 points and 8 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. With Napheesa Collier now back in the lineup, the squad looks extremely difficult to beat.
Washington Mystics vs Minnesota Lynx Prediction
The Washington Mystics and the Minnesota Lynx currently occupy opposite ends of the WNBA standings. Even with home-court advantage, it's hard to see the Washington Mystics offering much resistance against such a strong opponent. We're backing the visitors to cover the spread.
