Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Bristol City seem to find it easier to play away from home, where they have collected the majority of their 22 points. Watford, on the other hand, have just returned without points from their away fixture and will be eager to secure another home win, which they usually do not leave the pitch without achieving. It will be a challenging encounter for both sides.
Watford
In their 7 home matches, Watford have secured 6 victories and amassed 19 points—an impressive record. Only Leeds United are ahead, and only by goal difference. These victories may not be remarkable, though, as aside from their thrashing of Stoke City (3:0) in August, most of their wins have been by a single goal margin (five out of eight). Among their conquests was Sunderland, who were second at the time (2:1).
Bristol City
Bristol City's underwhelming home results can partly be attributed to their recent necessity to face league leaders: Leeds United (0:0), Sheffield United (1:2), and Burnley (0:1). Burnley visited during the 16th round. Away from home, Bristol City are on a five-match unbeaten streak and have won their last two away games.
Watford vs Bristol City Prediction
In their last home match, Watford faced difficulties against an out-of-form Oxford United, with the visitors not trailing much in terms of shots (16-10) and even creating more clear-cut chances (2-3). Therefore, from Bristol City, who are in noticeably better form, we can expect at least a similar outcome, if not more. We're expecting something similar to their last personal meeting at Vicarage Road (4:1 victory for Bristol City), hence a handicap of 0 on the visitors.
