Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Coventry City's squad is worth 28 million more, but it is Watford who are sitting in third place in the standings. Coventry City are just two points above the relegation zone.
Watford
Watford are excellent at home: they have won both of their Championship matches (5:1) and their League Cup fixture (7:0). However, in the last round against Sheffield United away, they couldn’t manage anything, suffering a narrow 0:1 defeat. This match was the first in the league where the team didn't score. That shouldn't happen against Coventry City, given that they have conceded in all four Championship matches.
Coventry City
In four of Coventry City's six matches, including the League Cup, one of the teams didn't score. In the previous round, they lost at home to Norwich City (0:1) without scoring. Their finishing let them down: they had 14 shots (5 on target) and missed two great opportunities. They should have scored at least once (1.15 xG). In contrast, one shot at their goal was enough to result in a goal. In both of their away matches, Coventry City have always conceded, and the home teams did not lose.
Watford — Coventry City Prediction
Despite being at opposite ends of the table, the odds on the clubs' victories are approximately equal, so it's advantageous to bet on the stronger team to win and to score. It's hard to imagine it turning out otherwise.
