Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
On Sunday, the only match of the round will be played. In this encounter, Watford, who are 10th in the table, aim to overcome Luton Town, who languish at the bottom of the table.
Watford
Watford have two pieces of good news. Firstly, they ended a five-match winless run by defeating a resilient Middlesbrough side away (1:0). Secondly, Vakoun Issouf, who was suspended for three matches following his sending‐off against Norwich City, is set to return to the squad. Notably, the club’s leading goalscorer with 10 goals is back. The victory over Middlesbrough was secured by the experienced central midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who spent many years playing for Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Luton Town
Luton Town lack such players. Despite possessing the sixth most expensive squad in the league, they have been unable to make an impact. The club continues to sink deeper into trouble, and it seems the managerial change came too late. Matt Bloomfield is struggling to turn things around mid-season, and an 11-match winless run has drained confidence. Luton Town desperately need a victory to regain belief.
Watford vs Luton Town Prediction
Only against Watford, who have finally recorded a win and gained a boost of confidence, will it be challenging for Luton Town to secure a result. During the winter, they lost at home – albeit mostly against opponents considerably stronger than Luton Town – so we predict a win for the hosts.
