Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
A West Ham United victory would put them just one point behind Brentford, who currently sit 11th in the table. However, Brentford have become far more dangerous away from home and could sting again.
West Ham United
West Ham United are still struggling with injuries in attack. Niclas Füllkrug remains sidelined and has only played 11 matches this season. Michail Antonio and Crysencio Summerville are also unavailable, while Lucas Paquetá picked up a thigh injury before the Chelsea match. At least captain Jarrod Bowen is fit—he scored against Chelsea, but he had little support, with Danny Ings the only real attacking option on the bench. West Ham lost that London derby (1:2), showing their lack of depth up front.
Brentford
This will be another tough London battle, but Brentford are not as vulnerable as they were earlier in the season. They were once nearly unbeatable at home, but while their fortress has weakened, their away form has improved. Brentford have taken points in three straight away matches, conceding just one goal in that stretch (overall goal difference +6, 7:1).
West Ham United vs Brentford Prediction
A big reason for their improved results is not only their powerful striking duo Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa (25 goals combined) but also goalkeeper Mark Flekken, who leads the league in saves (105) by a wide margin. He missed the last match against Tottenham Hotspur due to a chest injury, but has returned to full training and could feature. With West Ham missing key attacking players and Brentford in good away form, the visitors have a great chance to take points.
