Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
After the win over Nottingham Forest, West Ham United briefly saw hope for a turnaround, but another heavy defeat, this time 0:3 to Tottenham Hotspur, sparked a fresh round of debate about Graham Potter’s future. However, according to insiders, the West Ham United board still extends a vote of confidence to the manager.
West Ham United
West Ham United simply cannot afford to drop points, and a difficult opponent awaits. Crystal Palace have found the right manager, have established a clear style and the right personnel, and are now very hard to beat, in contrast to West Ham United. West Ham do score, but in only one of five matches this season have the team conceded fewer than three. They tend to fold once they concede; if they let in the first, they often concede a quick second, and then a third. There have been virtually no exceptions. That was the case in the most recent meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, when West Ham United conceded in the 47th, 57th and 64th minutes. In addition, Tomáš Souček was sent off for a straight red in the 54th minute.
Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace, by contrast, have looked rock-solid at the back: after a 2:2 in the Super Cup against Liverpool, goalkeeper Dean Henderson has kept five clean sheets in six matches and has conceded only once, against Nottingham Forest (1:1). If Crystal Palace also scored more often, there would be more wins, rather than just one in the English Premier League and one in the Europa Conference League.
West Ham United vs Crystal Palace Prediction
Crystal Palace need only one goal, and that would 80% secure their victory, because in the goalkeeping duel Dean Henderson will outplay Mads Hermansen. We believe the visitors will achieve it.
