Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Wolverhampton have quite the challenge this week, facing two top clubs back-to-back. After being taught a lesson at Stamford Bridge (1:3), they'll now host a game at Molineux, but it's certainly not Wolverhampton who will be laying down the examination.
Wolverhampton
The defeat to Chelsea marked their second consecutive match in which Wolverhampton conceded three goals. In general, over 2.5 total features in the vast majority of their matches, irrespective of location—nine out of their last 10 Premier League games have seen this. Remarkably, they have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, with Southampton slightly better on that front (51 against 50).
Arsenal
Arsenal, on the other hand, concede less than a goal per game (21 in 22 rounds) but score about two per match (43). Last time out, they went a bit overboard and let in two. Aston Villa used this to their advantage to secure a draw (2:2). After levelling the score, Arsenal were unlucky on several occasions, yet figures of 1.33 xG and 18 shots are noteworthy. They may not consistently deliver high-scoring games, but still managed over 2.5 total in six out of their last 10 across all competitions.
Wolverhampton vs Arsenal Prediction
Arsenal are expected to win, as they have done in their last seven encounters against Wolverhampton, and are likely to score two just as they have in their previous six meetings.
