Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Wolverhampton have struggled with a tough fixture list since Boxing Day, managing just one win in their last six matches. Meanwhile, Aston Villa have also had a demanding schedule but have generally been more resilient, losing just twice in their last nine matches across all competitions.
Wolverhampton
Their only win in this run came against Manchester United on Boxing Day, followed by a 2:2 draw with a shaky Tottenham Hotspur side and four painful defeats against teams in the European race. Notably, all of these losses, except for the one against Arsenal, were high-scoring affairs. Wolverhampton have also been involved in Cup action, edging Bristol City (2:1) in the FA Cup, adding to their trend of high-scoring matches.
Aston Villa
Unlike their opponents, Aston Villa have been active in the Champions League, which has added to their workload. Despite playing nine matches over this period, they have only lost twice. However, defensive issues persist—Amadou Onana has now missed three matches due to injury, and in their last Premier League fixture, Emiliano Martínez had a shaky performance but was fortunate to concede just once. As a result, six of their last nine matches have seen over 2.5 goals.
Wolverhampton vs Aston Villa Prediction
Their most recent meeting saw Aston Villa win at home (3:1), but Wolverhampton dominated the first half, missing several chances. Given both teams' defensive struggles and recent high-scoring matches, another goal-filled contest looks highly likely.
