Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
While these two clubs sit next to each other in the table—Everton 16th and Wolverhampton 17th—the gap between them remains significant. Even a win for the hosts wouldn’t allow them to overtake Everton, as there’s a 10-point difference between the sides.
Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton's biggest attacking threat this season has been Matheus Cunha, who has already surpassed his previous campaign’s goal tally (13 goals vs 12 last season). Before facing Fulham in Matchweek 27, he had scored in three consecutive league matches. However, disaster struck in the FA Cup clash against Bournemouth, where the Brazilian received a straight red card late in extra time. The suspension means he will miss at least three key matches, starting with Everton, followed by Southampton and West Ham United. Adding insult to injury, Wolverhampton were also eliminated from the FA Cup.
Everton
Everton must take advantage of Wolverhampton's misfortune. They were eliminated from the FA Cup earlier, meaning they’ve had an extra three days of rest compared to their opponents. While their form has cooled slightly—just one win in their last four league matches—Everton are still on a seven-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League. Another positive sign for the visitors is their attacking output. In three of their last four league games, they have managed to score at least two goals. If Everton can just tighten up defensively, a result at Molineux is well within reach.
Wolverhampton vs Everton Prediction
Despite being slight favourites, Wolverhampton's loss of Matheus Cunha is a major setback. Without their top scorer, their attacking threat is significantly weakened. Everton, with their stability and resilience, are well-positioned to avoid defeat here.
