Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
The Premier League relegation scrap has taken a strange turn this season — it’s nearly dormant. Seventeenth-placed Wolverhampton host sixteenth-placed West Ham United, but they aren’t in any real danger, sitting eight points above the drop zone.
Wolverhampton
In fact, Wolverhampton themselves are now fairly safe. Their nearest chasers, Ipswich Town and Leicester City, are nine points behind. Just four rounds ago, the gap was a mere two points, but now it’s become a sizeable cushion. Wolverhampton built that margin with two away wins and a draw — including a notable victory over European hopefuls Bournemouth. Since 25 January, they haven’t lost by more than a single goal in any competition, and their games have generally been low-scoring, with no more than three goals scored.
West Ham United
As for West Ham, survival hasn’t been a concern for some time. They are more focused on climbing to 13th, with just three points separating them from Manchester United. A win wouldn’t leapfrog them past Manchester United just yet, but it would mark a positive step after going winless in two straight league games. West Ham have scored fewer goals than Wolverhampton this season (33 vs 40), and in 2025 they've only netted more than twice in a match on two occasions from 10 games.
Wolverhampton vs West Ham United Prediction
Given West Ham’s attacking inconsistency, an away win seems unlikely — especially against a Wolverhampton side that have scored in each of their last eight outings. Expect a tight, low-scoring contest.
