Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
After a streak of six victories, Wolverhampton Wanderers have now suffered three defeats on the bounce. Among those earlier wins, only Manchester City stood out as a top-tier opponent — and even they were still in the thick of the Champions League race at the time. Most recently, Wolverhampton Wanderers came up against Crystal Palace, who had just lifted the FA Cup for the first time in their history. Trying to halt a team still buzzing from such a milestone — especially on their own ground — was always going to be a tall order. And so it proved.
Brentford
Brentford had gone six games unbeaten, including four straight wins, before slipping up in Round 37 against Fulham, a team with nothing left at stake this season. As in three of their previous four matches, Brentford managed to score twice. However, this time a dismal spell midway through the second half saw them concede twice in just three minutes. The result was a 2:3 defeat.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Brentford Prediction
The reverse fixture earlier this season turned into a shootout, finishing 5:3 in favour of Brentford. Brentford forwards Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, along with Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha — who is reportedly on the verge of a move to Manchester United this summer — have each netted at least 15 goals this season, placing them among the English Premier League’s top ten scorers. That’s why a high-scoring encounter seems more likely than backing either team for the win.
