Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Aberdeen have reclaimed third place after five rounds, but their position remains under threat from Dundee United. Meanwhile, Kilmarnock are on the cusp of breaking into the top six, making this a must-win fixture for both sides.
Aberdeen
Aberdeen have been in poor form since late autumn. Their recent victory over Dundee (2:1) was the first glimpse of hope after a dreadful run of 13 matches without a win, during which they collected just three points. That is nothing short of a catastrophe. The early-season luck that propelled them up the table has completely evaporated. Even with this latest win, it’s tough to predict where their next three points will come from.
Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock, on the other hand, have won their last two matches, surging from 11th to 7th place. The league remains incredibly tight, with just four points separating them from 11th-placed Dundee. They secured those wins at home, and while their away form has been significantly weaker, Aberdeen’s struggles at Pittodrie level the playing field.
Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock Prediction
It’s worth noting that Kilmarnock dismantled Aberdeen (4:0) in their last meeting, while Aberdeen only managed to win their home fixture in August thanks to an early second-half red card for their opponents. Given Aberdeen’s inconsistent form, we believe their winning streak is far from guaranteed. A double chance on the visitors looks like the best bet.
