Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Bundesliga match.
In the final fixture of Saturday’s Bundesliga schedule, Bayern Munich and Hamburger meet. On paper the favourite is obvious, but Bayern Munich have a UEFA Champions League tie coming up and may choose to conserve energy.
Bayern Munich
In the final hours of the transfer window, Bayern Munich did manage to find a back-up for Harry Kane. That turned out to be Nicolas Jackson, who has never been renowned for his finishing. It is also worth noting that Bayern Munich’s defence has looked very unstable of late: FC Augsburg in the league and Wehen Wiesbaden from a lower division in the cup (both 3:2) managed to score twice.
Hamburger
Hamburger are far from the easiest opponents for top clubs. On matchday one, Borussia Mönchengladbach stumbled to a 0:0 draw, failing to find a goal despite 61% possession. The coaching staff are prepared to set up in a low block and play for a draw, and, by all indications, do not intend to abandon this approach.
Bayern Munich vs Hamburger Prediction
Bayern Munich are unlikely to expend too much energy ahead of an important UEFA Champions League match. Few doubt they will win, but breaking down a deep block requires significant effort, so a heavy win should not be expected.
