Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup qualifier match.
Bolivia’s surprise run of two victories last month has moved them into a strong position. The underdogs look set to take points off Colombia, but they are a different class of competitor. In September, the Colombian side defeated the world’s top team, Argentina (2:1).
Bolivia
A month ago, no one expected Bolivia to win after their disastrous Copa América 2024 campaign where they lost to the United States (0:2), Uruguay (0:5) and Panama (1-3). The defeat to Venezuela (4:0) happened due to their opponents’ underestimation. Moreover, the team made the most of their chances (18-12 in shots). On the road against struggling Chile (1:2), Bolivia were extremely lucky in attack as the opposition dominated (5-18 in shots and 33-67 possession).
Colombia
As for Colombia, they are accustomed to being a top team in South America. Yes, they have suffered setbacks, like their draw against Peru (1:1), but their potential is yet to be truly defined. Against Argentina (2:1), Colombia were courageous. They struck five shots on target compared to their opponents’ one, with James Rodríguez becoming the hero, scoring 1+1.
Bolivia vs Colombia Prediction
In March 2022, Bolivia lost to Colombia 0:3, and the same scoreline was recorded in a friendly four months ago. The favourites won’t falter against the underdogs and will leave with points.
