Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Celta Vigo are chasing a seventh-place finish, which would secure qualification for the Europa League. Sevilla, by contrast, remain marooned in the bottom half of the standings and are engaged in a battle to steer clear of relegation. Although they currently enjoy a modest cushion above the relegation zone, a difficult run of upcoming fixtures puts them under pressure.
Celta Vigo
Celta Vigo have been excellent at home this season, registering 10 wins and 3 draws in 17 league matches. Their only home defeats came against top-tier opposition — Athletic Bilbao, Atlético Madrid, and Real Madrid — as well as RCD Espanyol, who were on a five-match unbeaten streak at the time. The team have been potent in attack, netting 52 goals, the fifth-highest total in La Liga. Their primary attacking threats have been the experienced duo of Borja Iglesias and Iago Aspas, both of whom have scored nine goals in the league.
Sevilla
Sevilla find themselves in a deep crisis. They are winless in their last seven La Liga matches, suffering five defeats and drawing twice. Their attacking output has been poor, with just eight goals scored across their last 10 games. Even their top scorer, Dodi Lukébakio, with 11 goals this season, has been unable to lift the team — his last goal came in early March, and he’s since picked up a yellow and a red card in his two most recent appearances. At the back, problems persist, with just one clean sheet in this run.
Celta Vigo vs Sevilla Prediction
Celta Vigo are well placed to claim all three points against Sevilla and keep their European hopes on track. Their impressive home form and attacking sharpness stand in stark contrast to Sevilla’s ongoing struggles, and a recent managerial change has yet to deliver any meaningful improvement for the visitors.
