Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Chelsea have strengthened their defence, while Brighton have become increasingly vulnerable at the back, resulting in dropping points in the previous round. Will they manage to pick up any on Stamford Bridge?
Chelsea
Chelsea have hit their stride in September. Since the international break, the team have secured three wins out of three in two different competitions. In the Premier League, they withstood prolonged pressure from Bournemouth to clinch a narrow victory. They then beat West Ham United, whose defence was in disarray, with Nicolas Jackson netting his third and fourth goals of the Premier League season. During the midweek Carabao Cup tie, the reserve team—worth several hundred million euros—easily dealt with Barrow. In all these games, the clean sheet column remains at zero. Can we expect another clean sheet against Brighton?
Brighton
Last Sunday, Brighton drew 2:2 with Nottingham Forest, which was uncharacteristic for them. Excluding the Carabao Cup, where untested combinations can lead to unpredictable results, Brighton conceded a maximum of one goal in the first four Premier League matches, with the bets on the total over 2.5 and both teams to score hitting only half the time.
Chelsea vs Brighton Prediction
Both teams can score, as evidenced by their last two head-to-head encounters (2:1, 3:2). In these matches, Chelsea had a player sent off, yet still managed to win both games. Given Chelsea's current form and the news that Mykhailo Mudryk is back in action, while Brighton's key attacker João Pedro is a doubt with an ankle injury, we believe Chelsea will win again.
