Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Chelsea must secure maximum points from their remaining fixtures as they remain outside the Champions League qualification zone. Although the gap is just two points, their direct rivals have shown little sign of slipping up. Everton, meanwhile, approach their visit to Stamford Bridge with less pressure, having already guaranteed their Premier League survival.
Chelsea
Chelsea nearly found themselves four points adrift, but it was Pedro Neto who sealed a dramatic win in stoppage time against Fulham, turning sharply before firing home in the third added minute. That result allowed the team to avenge their first-round defeat to Fulham, once again overturning a 0:1 deficit. Another draw at that stage would have marked a third in a row — a setback they could ill afford.
Everton
Everton, on the other hand, were beaten by Manchester City in the previous round — an expected outcome. They held out for a goalless draw until the 84th minute, largely due to a strong performance from England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. However, beyond the dropped points, the squad also suffered a major blow with the injury to captain and central defender James Tarkowski, a player as crucial as Jordan Pickford himself. The defensive line began to crumble shortly after he was forced off in the 52nd minute.
Chelsea vs Everton Prediction
With such a key figure missing at the back, even Jordan Pickford may struggle to keep Chelsea at bay. The home side are expected to take all three points, particularly as Everton may only offer resistance until conceding the opening goal. A high-scoring contest seems unlikely — no more than three goals are expected.
