Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the ATP tour match.
Frances Tiafoe, ranked 15th, enters as the fifth seed at the ATP 500 event in Basel, Switzerland. However, his draw isn't exactly favourable, as the American faces Cameron Norrie right in the opening round.
Frances Tiafoe
Tiafoe has extra motivation for this tournament: he needs to defend his ranking points. Last season, he reached the quarterfinals here, defeating Daniel Evans and Gael Monfils along the way. This year, Tiafoe has participated in three indoor tournaments, consistently advancing past the first round.
Cameron Norrie
Cameron Norrie is searching for his best form following an injury. Just days before the start of the Olympics in Paris, he suffered a significant forearm injury, sidelining him for several months. The Brit made a comeback at the Challenger event in Roanne, where he was ousted by his first notable opponent, Luca Van Assche (6:1, 5:7, 3:6). In Stockholm, he was soundly defeated by Miomir Kecmanovic (4:6, 4:6).
Frances Tiafoe vs Cameron Norrie Prediction
Norrie still needs to prove, at least to himself, that he can once again compete with top-100 players. The last time he did was back at Wimbledon several months ago. Tiafoe should capitalise on his match fitness advantage and come out on top.
