Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Turkish Süper Lig match.
This season, Galatasaray are not participating in the Champions League, allowing them to focus more on domestic competitions. In the Europa League, they have been achieving results through sheer quality. Bookmakers have no doubts about the capital side’s success in the game against Trabzonspor, despite injuries to forwards Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi.
Galatasaray
Last week's Europa League away match against Malmö (2:2) demonstrated Galatasaray's ability to attack effectively even without their two leading forwards, as they started with Michy Batshuayi. In Sweden, the Turkish club managed a draw with just 0.81 xG and five shots on target, keeping them in the top eight. This game extended their unbeaten run to 18 matches; in the Süper Lig, after defeating Sivasspor (3:2), they have a six-point cushion in terms of points lost from second place.
Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor are hardly aiming for a spot in European competition this season; the former champions are fighting for survival. On the road, they have only managed four points from seven matches, a tally lower than only Hatayspor and Adana Demirspor, who have two points each. In the recent fixture against Kasimpasa (2:2), Trabzonspor let a victory slip in the dying moments, and without Stefan Savić, who has been long-term absent, their defence remains too fragile.
Galatasaray vs Trabzonspor Prediction
Since February 2023, Galatasaray have recorded three consecutive wins over Trabzonspor (2:1, 2:0, and 5:1). The capital side should comfortably deal with a struggling Trabzonspor that cannot perform reliably in their own half.
