Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Getafe’s strong January performances have propelled them further in the Copa del Rey and helped them steer clear of the relegation zone in La Liga. Meanwhile, Sevilla are unbeaten in their last three league matches but continue to struggle in attack, which is likely to be evident in Saturday’s encounter.
Getafe
Following a Copa del Rey victory over Pontevedra (1:0), Getafe have produced impressive results in La Liga, holding Barcelona to a 1:1 draw and convincingly beating Real Sociedad 3:0. It appears that José Bordalás has once again found a winning formula, setting up in a deep defensive block and slowing down the tempo. Despite their recent success, Getafe remain one of the least creative teams in La Liga, having generated just 22.25 xG (fifth-worst) and scoring only 17 goals this season—only Real, Valladolid have been worse in attack.
Sevilla
Sevilla haven’t been much better in terms of attacking output, producing just 24.53 xG across 21 league matches. In their most recent 1:1 home draw against Espanyol, they failed to score from open play, with their only goal coming from outside the box by Loïc Badé. There is some good news for Sevilla, as Adrià Pedrosa and Isaac Romero return from suspension, which should improve their pressing game. However, these changes are unlikely to significantly enhance their attacking efficiency.
Getafe vs Sevilla Prediction
Getafe have lost twice to Sevilla in 2024, both times by a narrow 1:0 scoreline. With both teams struggling in attack and unlikely to take many risks, this match is expected to be low-scoring.
