Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
The first two months of the season have not provided many positive moments for the fans of Girona and Feyenoord. Both teams are going through a rebuilding phase: both squads were refreshed during the off-season, and newcomers require time to adapt, affecting the results.
Girona
A draw with Celta Vigo (1:1) marked Girona's fifth consecutive match without a win (including three defeats). In their away game against Paris Saint-Germain (0:1) in the first round of the Champions League, the Catalan side did not create any dangerous moments (0.11 xG), while conceding 26 shots (1.68 xGA). The defeat came only due to a gross error by Paulo Gazzaniga. In La Liga, the team has struggled with finishing (9 goals from 12.16 expected), but they consistently play open football (at home, 2/3 total over 2.5).
Feyenoord
During the summer, Feyenoord underwent a managerial change, and a setback against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (0:4) has brought Brian Priske close to potential dismissal. Against the German champions, the Rotterdam side were fairly competitive in attack (0.71 xG against 1.66, and 13-11 in shots), but the result was decided by the opponent's star power. In the Eredivisie, the red-and-whites trail PSV Eindhoven by eight points in terms of dropped points, but they are in the top-4 by goals scored (12 in 6 games).
Girona vs Feyenoord
Girona may be without Daley Blind and Oriol Romeu—experienced players crucial for organising the defence. Both the Catalan side and Feyenoord are capable of winning, but their strengths lie in attack. Therefore, it is better to bet on the total over.
