Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Club Friendly match.
Grasshoppers
The start to the domestic campaign has been poor — one defeat and one draw in the league, the latter ending a run of four straight losses, three of which saw them concede three goals. Their attacking play in pre-season has been underwhelming, with goals scored failing to turn into wins. Grasshoppers are without Amir Abrashi and Lee Young-jun through injury, which weakens their midfield core.
Bayern Munich
Following their Club World Cup quarter-final elimination from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich have bounced back with friendly wins over Olympique Lyonnais (2:1) and a thumping 4:0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. Michael Olise scored twice against Lyon and has been a consistent creative threat. Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito remain sidelined, but Bayern’s squad depth allows for rotation without a drop in quality.
Grasshoppers vs Bayern Munich Prediction
The gulf in class and form is clear — Bayern outmatch Grasshoppers in every key area. Even with rotation, the German champions should control proceedings and carve out plenty of chances. However, given the friendly nature of the match and both teams’ upcoming competitive fixtures, a cautious tempo and limited intensity are likely. Expect Bayern to win comfortably without the scoreline running riot.
