Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Following their win in the previous round, Heart of Midlothian were expected to finish sixth; however, St Mirren unexpectedly overtook them. Consequently, the hosts must exercise greater caution against the visitors.
Heart of Midlothian
Although Heart of Midlothian played away, their win was less surprising compared to that achieved by their opponents. They defeated bottom-placed St. Johnstone (2:1), a more straightforward result than that recorded by Rangers in the previous round (1:3). Since the start of winter, Heart of Midlothian have lost only twice in seven Scottish Premiership matches at Tynecastle, winning four and drawing once. Apart from the runners-up, they have only been defeated by Hibernian (1:2). In six of these matches, both teams scored.
St. Mirren
St. Mirren were not even intimidated by Rangers, winning at Ibrox in the previous round (2:0). Their aggressive approach led to goals from Mikael Mandron and Toyosi Olusanya. The visitors raised concerns, but the referee did not deem any fouls. Additionally, playing with two forwards has proven effective. This marked their second consecutive away win without conceding; in late January, St. Mirren defeated Aberdeen (3:0).
Heart of Midlothian vs St. Mirren Prediction
Heart of Midlothian edged St. Mirren on penalties after a 1:1 draw in their Scottish Cup clash on February 10th. However, we’re backing a double chance for St. Mirren.
