Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Bundesliga match.
Borussia Dortmund’s expansive and attacking style of play delivered two impressive wins last week. With only four rounds remaining in the Bundesliga season, Hoffenheim appear to have lost motivation — the squad is now out of contention for European qualification, and a string of injuries will prevent the coaching staff from naming their strongest starting line-up.
Hoffenheim
Across the last six Bundesliga fixtures, Hoffenheim have secured just one win, collecting five points from a possible eighteen. Against Freiburg (2:3), the team created more going forward but were undone by defensive frailties (1.95–1.55 in xG). Since the beginning of 2025, Hoffenheim have recorded the third-worst defensive statistics in the Bundesliga in terms of expected goals against (28.06), conceding 27 goals — only Werder Bremen (29) and Holstein Kiel (31) have allowed more.
Borussia Dortmund
This past week, Borussia Dortmund defeated Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League (3:1) and edged Borussia Mönchengladbach (3:2) in the league — producing a combined 5.30 xG across both matches. Serhou Guirassy is in excellent form, having contributed five goals and two assists in five appearances in April. Since the March international break, the squad have registered 9.15 xG in the Bundesliga (third-highest) and scored 12 goals — the joint-best tally alongside Bayern Munich — keeping them firmly in the race for Champions League qualification.
Hoffenheim vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction
Hoffenheim will be without key player Tom Bischof on Saturday due to suspension (accumulated yellow cards), while Valentin Gendrey, Ozan Kabak, Ihlas Bebou, Alexander Prass and Diadié Samassékou all remain sidelined through injury. Borussia Dortmund are in strong form and expected to maintain their momentum — the visitors should take all three points and continue their pursuit of a top-four finish.
