Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Bundesliga match.
Before the international break, Bayern Munich played effectively and successfully, scoring nine goals in their first three official matches under Vincent Kompany, which gives hope for a successful season. Holstein Kiel are just beginning to find their rhythm, but setbacks against mid-table teams have done little to boost their confidence.
Holstein Kiel
The match against Alemannia Aachen in the DFB-Pokal highlighted Holstein Kiel's obvious defensive weaknesses (3:2). Hoffenheim (2:3) and Wolfsburg (0:2) essentially capitalised on every chance created by Holstein Kiel, resulting in five goals conceded with 5.20 xGA. Notably, in expected goals against, the Bundesliga newcomers rank last, and for the upcoming game, key defenders Timo Becker and Marco Komenda are ruled out.
Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich’s only slip-up under their new coach happened after the break against Wolfsburg, when they quickly scored two goals (3:2). In terms of xG, Bayern Munich’s performance proves the high quality of their players: they have 5 goals from 3.80 xG. It’s clear that against weaker opponents like Holstein Kiel, Vincent Kompany will look to give attacking players Michael Olise and Mathys Tel minutes to prepare them for crucial Champions League fixtures.
Holstein Kiel vs Bayern Munich Prediction
Against a lower-ranked side on the road, Bayern Munich are expected to play from a position of strength — they could establish a two-to-three goal lead by halftime. Holstein Kiel can only hope for Bayern’s poor finishing (which, however, has not been an issue for Munich so far).
