Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup qualifier match.
In this head-to-head clash in Amman, the host team, Jordan, is considered the underdog, as South Korea boast several top players by Asian football standards. However, the visitors will be without their leader Son Heung-min, with the Tottenham Hotspur captain sidelined due to an injury sustained during club duty, now out for over two weeks.
Jordan
In recent years, Jordan have markedly improved—they reached the Asian Cup final in February, illustrating their progress. Despite a setback against Qatar (1:3) in the tournament's decisive match, the team has since embarked on a nine-match unbeaten streak. Although Jordan lack well-known or highly skilled players, their cohesive team play has positioned them at the top of Group B after two rounds.
South Korea
In September's matches, South Korea also collected four points from two games, though they scored fewer goals (3 vs 4). At home against Palestine (0:0), the team failed to capitalise despite a significant advantage in chances (16-10 in shots and 79%-21% in possession). In contrast, against Oman (3:1), they were more aggressive in attack. Playing without their leader, the South Koreans will focus on counterattacks, with Hee-Chang Hwang and Kang-in Lee shifting emphasis to the wings.
Jordan vs South Korea Prediction
In four of the last five encounters between Jordan and South Korea, the total under 2.5 prevailed (in February, the underdogs claimed a 2:0 victory). A lower total should be considered.
