Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
The race for European places in Serie A is heating up, and Lazio are right in the thick of it. Sitting eighth in the table, they trail fifth-placed Juventus by just four points and have a game in hand. A win here would lift them into sixth place, so motivation at the Stadio Olimpico is sky-high.
Lazio
However, the international break did little to solve Lazio’s personnel issues. Key defenders Nuno Tavares and Patricio Gabarrón remain out, and their absence was sorely felt in the humiliating 0:5 defeat to Bologna. On top of that, midfield anchor Matías Vecino is suspended. Still, Lazio’s strength lies in their attack — they’ve scored 50 goals from 47 xG, showing clinical edge in the final third.
Torino
Torino, meanwhile, head into this clash on a four-match unbeaten run, a streak that includes an impressive 2:1 win over AC Milan. They’ve scored two goals in four of their last five games — the only exception being the narrow 1:0 win over Empoli, where VAR ruled out a third goal due to offside. Defensively, though, chaos lurks. They’ve conceded 34 goals, but with 40.9 xGA, it’s clear that luck has played a part.
Lazio vs Torino Prediction
The reverse fixture was a thriller, with Lazio edging it 3:2 in Turin. And the Roman club are no strangers to high-scoring affairs — 9 of their last 10 matches have seen at least two goals, with over 2.5 landing in six of those. Torino’s numbers tell a similar story. Given the attacking momentum and shaky defending on both sides, the value lies in a higher line.
