Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup Qualification match.
These two sides had very different autumn campaigns in the UEFA Nations League. North Macedonia earned promotion to League B, while Liechtenstein once again finished as the weakest team in League D.
Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein managed just two points in a group with Gibraltar and San Marino, conceding six goals in four matches. In their final outing in November, they led against San Marino, only to fall apart after the break, allowing 2.04 xGA and conceding three goals from five shots on target. Ranked 204th in the FIFA World Rankings, Liechtenstein’s squad is valued at under €1 million, and coach Konrad Fünfstück simply doesn’t have the players to build any structured style of play.
North Macedonia
North Macedonia, on the other hand, have been steadily improving and come into this match on a run of five consecutive clean-sheet victories. In November, they beat Latvia and the Faroe Islands (both 1:0) with a combined 2.34 xG created. Coach Blagoja Milevski can count on a core trio in attack — Bojan Miovski, Enis Bardhi and Eljif Elmas — all of whom are now firmly established in European club football.
Liechtenstein vs North Macedonia Prediction
In World Cup 2022 qualification, North Macedonia thrashed Liechtenstein (5:0 and 4:0). There is little to suggest the outcome will be any different this time around. The gulf in quality is simply too wide, and the visitors should dominate from the outset.
