Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
At one point, Liverpool’s commanding lead in the title race suggested that by the time they met Arsenal in the penultimate home fixture, the trophy might already be wrapped up — and so it is. They, having secured the Premier League crown, fell to a 1:3 defeat at Chelsea last weekend. Now, with the pressure off, they welcome a weary Arsenal side fresh from a draining Champions League semi-final.
Liverpool
Liverpool's attacking intent has remained untouched despite a managerial change — their league-leading 85.50 xG is far ahead of the chasing pack, with no other side even breaking the 70-mark. Even in a subdued display at Stamford Bridge, they still produced 1.43 xG. At Anfield, they’ve been close to flawless, taking 44 points from 17 home matches.
Arsenal
Arsenal, meanwhile, are reeling after a third consecutive loss — their latest a 1:2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain that ended their European dream. They haven’t won since 20 April, when they defeated Ipswich Town (4:0). That said, Arsenal remain a major threat going forward. Across both legs of their Champions League semi-final, they generated 3.53 xG, and in the Premier League, they’ve scored 30 goals on the road — behind only two other teams.
Liverpool vs Arsenal Prediction
The reverse fixture at the Emirates ended 2:2 in a thrilling, end-to-end affair. With both sides packed with attacking quality — and Mohamed Salah enjoying a record-breaking season (28+18) — goals should be expected once again at Anfield.
