Monterrey
Monterrey advanced to the play-off stage of the FIFA Club World Cup, so their heavy defeat in the opening round of the domestic league—just 12 days later—was hardly unexpected. Since then, they have played two matches in the United States, keeping clean sheets in both, including a goalless draw against River Plate. In the second round of Liga MX, the defence once again held firm as Monterrey claimed a 1:0 win over San Luis.
Atlas
Atlas have been involved in high-scoring fixtures since the spring. Both teams found the net in each of their last ten matches, with eight of those games ending with Total Over 2.5 goals. In seven of those fixtures, at least one side scored three or more. That trend could well continue against Monterrey, especially given their most recent head-to-head ended in a 3:3 draw. When they last met in Nuevo León during the Apertura 2024, Monterrey ran out convincing 4:0 winners.
Monterrey vs Atlas Prediction
This match could well produce another goal-filled contest, with Monterrey likely to emerge victorious. A clean sheet for the hosts is a genuine possibility, particularly with the home advantage.
