Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Championship match.
Oxford United held on for a 2:2 draw at home to Coventry last time out. But can they withstand Leicester City, who are throwing everything at a Premier League return?
Oxford United
That clash with Coventry City could easily have produced more goals. Oxford United wasted several clear chances, while Coventry struck the crossbar late on. Still, it was the first point of the season for Oxford after three straight defeats — all by a single goal. They sit third from bottom, exactly where you’d expect a team destined for a relegation scrap come spring.
Leicester City
For Leicester, anything less than promotion would be deemed a failure. Their budget matches the ambition, and plenty of players with top-flight experience remain at the club. In the recent win over Birmingham, both Jordan Ayew — with a decade of Premier League football under his belt — and Ricardo Pereira, a Champions League veteran, played key roles. It was the Portuguese full-back who struck the second goal to kill off Birmingham’s hopes.
Oxford United vs Leicester City Prediction
Oxford lost to Birmingham (0:1) in Round 3, and by that logic, Leicester should prove too strong as well. Expect Leicester to score at least twice and take the points.
