Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Scottish Premiership match.
Rangers have regained their reputation following an unexpected home loss to St. Mirren by securing an away win against a bottom-tier side. Motherwell, who have also been struggling, have made a managerial change, bringing in a new coach who has already delivered some results.
Rangers
Under Philippe Clement, Rangers have shown inconsistency, both winning and losing by two goals. Their most recent win was a 4:2 victory over Kilmarnock, but notably, they have conceded in four consecutive matches. The last time they kept a clean sheet was in their 4:0 win against Ross County in Matchday 25. The handicap of -2.5 in Rangers' favour has only worked in two of the last five encounters.
Motherwell
Motherwell’s poor form, with just one win and six losses in their last eight matches, led to the sacking of Stuart Kettlewell after almost two years in charge. The club appointed German manager Michael Wimmer, who has had some success as an interim manager at Stuttgart and with Austria Vienna. After a tough debut loss to Dundee United (0:1), Wimmer led Motherwell to their first victory under him, defeating Dundee (2:1).
Rangers vs Motherwell Prediction
In their last four head-to-head meetings, Motherwell covering a +1.5 handicap has always been a winning bet. Even if Rangers push hard to create a significant margin, the new-look Motherwell side under Wimmer is unlikely to capitulate easily. However, it’s still hard to see them getting a result here, so the best bet is a Motherwell handicap of +2 or +2.5.
