Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the La Liga match.
Real Sociedad have slipped into the bottom half of the table but still have a chance to compete for a spot in European competitions. They are nine points behind sixth place, and their upcoming matches are against teams in the lower ranks. Valladolid, meanwhile, are almost certain to be relegated to the Segunda Division – they have only earned 16 points in 28 matches, occupy last place, and have lost their previous nine away games.
Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad are enduring a frustratingly inconsistent campaign, but when it comes to dispatching weaker opponents, they’ve been largely reliable. Comfortable wins over Leganés (3:0) and Espanyol (2:1) recently highlighted their quality in these match-ups. At home, they have made the Reale Arena a fortress again — winning 11 of their last 16 in all competitions. They’ve also conceded just 30 goals in 28 league games, ranking them among La Liga’s top six defences.
Real Valladolid
Real Valladolid are in freefall. Eight defeats in their last nine and just one win since the turn of the year paints a bleak picture. The away form is even worse — just one win from 14, and that came against Alavés thanks to two penalties. With only 18 goals scored and 63 conceded, Valladolid sit rock-bottom in both offensive and defensive charts. Morale is low, and the squad appears increasingly resigned to the drop.
Real Sociedad vs Real Valladolid Prediction
Even with Real Sociedad’s ups and downs, they should be far too strong for a Valladolid side that’s been woeful on the road and short on quality all over the pitch. Expect the hosts to take full control and win.
