Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Ligue 1 match.
The Parisians saw their 22-match unbeaten run come to an end on Wednesday and with a crucial Champions League fixture against Liverpool looming on Tuesday, Luis Enrique is expected to rotate his squad for this domestic encounter.
Rennes
Rennes have steadily climbed the table in recent weeks, picking up 12 points from their last five league matches—a tally bettered only by Nice (13) and Paris Saint-Germain (15). Under Jorge Sampaoli, Rennes have solidified their defence, conceding just two goals since 30 January—the best record in Ligue 1 after Strasbourg (1). However, finishing remains an issue, with just eight goals from 10.81 xG during this run.
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain’s free-flowing attack hasn’t always translated into efficiency—despite leading the scoring charts, their shot conversion rate is the fourth-worst in Ligue 1 (74.16 xG, 66 goals). Against Liverpool on Wednesday, PSG dominated in xG (1.82–0.27) and shots on target (10–1) but failed to salvage a draw. Given the tight schedule, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are likely to be rested, leaving Gonçalo Ramos and Warren Zaïre-Emery to shoulder more attacking responsibility.
Rennes vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
Since May 2021, only two of the last nine meetings between these sides have exceeded 2.5 goals. With PSG’s focus on the Champions League, this match is expected to be a low-scoring affair.
