Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the 2026 World Cup Qualification match.
The South Korea national team are fighting for first place in Group B and have all but secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Oman have struggled in the qualifiers, particularly in terms of scoring, and their away record is poor. They still have a chance to reach the play-offs, but against South Korea, three points seem out of reach.
South Korea
South Korea comfortably leads Group B, having collected 14 points from a possible 18. The Koreans average two goals per match and have only faced difficulties against Palestine (1:1, 0:0). Against other teams, they have won convincingly, scoring at least twice in four matches. Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min is in excellent form, with three goals and two assists in his last three international appearances.
Oman
Oman have managed just two wins from six matches. In the four games they lost, the team scored only once while conceding nine times. Their away record is poor, with only two victories in ten matches since January 2023. The squad is composed entirely of players from the domestic league, which is far from being one of Asia’s strongest competitions.
South Korea vs Oman Prediction
South Korea are clear favourites and should comfortably secure three points against Oman, who have yet to score an away goal in this stage of qualification. The hosts are strong at home, and their attacking line is impressive, so we’ll back South Korea to win with a handicap of -1.5.
