Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Women's Euro match.
Spain opened their European Championship campaign in emphatic fashion with a 5:0 win over Portugal. Entering the tournament as reigning world champions and one of the favourites to lift the trophy, another victory here would secure their spot in the knockout stages and could be enough to secure top spot in the group ahead of the final round.
Spain (women)
Spain have enjoyed overwhelming success in their previous meetings with Belgium, winning six out of eight encounters, including two in 2024 by scores of 3:2 and 5:1. The team features a highly effective attacking unit, having netted 34 goals in their last 10 matches. In eight of those fixtures, Total Over 3.5 goals was recorded. In their tournament opener, the team effectively decided the outcome in the first half with four goals, finishing the match with 71% possession and 4.20 xG.
Belgium (women)
Belgium suffered a narrow 1:0 defeat to Italy in their opening match, but the team’s overall level remains below that of the leading squads. They have lost six of their last nine fixtures, conceding 22 goals in the process. Although they managed to score twice in a recent Nations League clash against Spain, they now need at least a draw to stay in contention for a place in the next round. That will be a significant challenge, particularly given their record of conceding an average of 3.5 goals per game across their meetings with the team.
Spain (women) vs Belgium (women) Prediction
Spain are unlikely to leave their qualification hopes hanging on the final group match and will look to seal progression against the squad. Five of their eight past meetings have seen Total Over 3.5 goals, and that trend looks set to continue, with Spain more than capable of providing the required firepower alone.
