Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
One of the most predictable ties of the Champions League last 16 appears to have lost any real intrigue before the first whistle. Of course, Stade Brestois are capable of springing a surprise, but given Paris Saint-Germain’s current form, they are among the favourites for the title – and their recent emphatic win over Stade Brestois (5:2) only reinforced that.
Stade Brestois
Since the start of 2025, Stade Brestois have suffered four defeats in 10 matches, conceding 12 goals in the process. Heavy losses against Real Madrid (0:3) and PSG served as reminders that last season’s surprise top-four finishers in Ligue 1 are currently outside the European qualification spots. In 21 league matches, Stade Brestois have already conceded 36 goals – a worse defensive record than all but three teams in the relegation zone.
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain’s unstoppable attack was on full display last Friday in a dominant 4:1 victory over AS Monaco, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia marking his debut with a goal. The Georgian winger is expected to start again, but the real driving force behind PSG remains Ousmane Dembélé, who has netted 18 goals since 15 December. In Ligue 1, they have amassed 64.88 xG across 21 games, holding an advantage of over 20 expected goals ahead of the league’s second-best attack.
Stade Brestois vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
Stade Brestois have already struggled to compete with Paris Saint-Germain this season, losing both encounters (1:3 and 2:5). It seems inevitable that the Parisians will effectively seal their place in the last 16 in the first leg, as Stade Brestois’ defence is bound to crack under sustained pressure.
