Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Champions League match.
Stuttgart have struggled to perform at home in the Champions League, collecting fewer points in Germany (4) than on the road (6). Now, with Paris Saint-Germain visiting, their play-off hopes are under serious threat.
Stuttgart
With Manchester City expected to beat Club Brugge, the English side will likely push Stuttgart out of the top 24, making a defeat unacceptable. While Dinamo Zagreb’s chances of beating Milan are slim, Stuttgart would be wise not to gamble on a draw. But can the German side actually defeat Paris Saint-Germain? Back in October, they failed to beat Sparta Prague at home (1:1). Despite securing back-to-back wins at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, they recently lost there to St. Pauli (0:1) in late December.
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain have not tasted defeat since their 0:1 loss to Bayern Munich in the fifth round of the Champions League in late November. Since then, PSG have put together an impressive 12-match unbeaten streak, including their well-earned 4:2 victory over Manchester City in the last round. While that result came at the Parc des Princes, their away record remains strong, boasting four wins and two draws in this competition.
Stuttgart vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction
Stuttgart are unlikely to win, but Paris Saint-Germain also cannot afford a slip-up, as they too sit on 10 points and remain in the fight for the title. Given the stakes for both sides, a draw would be an outcome that suits everyone.
