Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the Serie A match.
The start of the season has been a successful stint for both Torino and Lazio under their new managers. Torino, alongside Juventus and Empoli, remain one of the only unbeaten teams in Serie A. However, their upcoming match against the Rome side may leave them without points.
Torino
After the last round, Torino surprisingly topped the league table as all competitors simultaneously dropped points. Away at Hellas Verona (3:2), the team secured victory despite Antonio Sanabria missing a penalty – the Paraguayan scored from open play. Additionally, two other top forwards, Duván Zapata and Che Adams, found the net. Torino insist on playing open football, as confirmed by their statistical metrics: their xG (7.60) and xGA (8.26) both rank in the upper half of the table.
Lazio
On Wednesday, Lazio's streak of five consecutive "both teams to score – yes" results came to an end, though at the start of the Europa League, they could have conceded against Dynamo Kyiv (3:0). The team utilises the attacking talents of Boulaye Dia and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru – both new signings are exceptionally good in direct football (3+1 combined in the game against Dynamo Kyiv). In terms of xG, Lazio are in the top 4 of Serie A (9.28).
Torino vs Lazio Prediction
After parting ways with Ivan Jurić, Torino are prepared to play attacking football against any opponent. The Turin side might make mistakes against Lazio, but the Rome side is also inconsistent – the head-to-head match will provide plenty of chances, and goals on both sides are guaranteed.
