Simon Dalton presents his prediction for the English Premier League match.
Despite a poor run of form in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur still retain a realistic chance of qualifying for European competition. At home against Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou is expected to rotate his line-up once again, giving his regular starters a rest, while the visiting side will be eager to end their current losing streak.
Tottenham Hotspur
In their last ten outings across all competitions, Tottenham Hotspur have picked up just three wins, with only one of those coming in Premier League action. Last Sunday’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers (2:4) saw the London squad intentionally rest key players ahead of the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final. The rotated line-up conceded 2.44 xGA and allowed 13 shots. On Thursday, however, Tottenham Hotspur met expectations with a victory away to Eintracht Frankfurt (2:1 on aggregate), allowing them to shift focus back to their domestic campaign.
Nottingham Forest
Defeats to Aston Villa (1:2) and Everton (0:1) have shaken Nottingham Forest’s position near the top of the standings. Newcastle United have already overtaken them in the race for third place, and the gap to sixth has narrowed to just three points. On the road in the Premier League, Nottingham Forest have seen Total Over 2.5 goals in each of their last seven matches – and they will need to find the net to stay in the European race.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
Tottenham Hotspur have recorded Total Over 2.5 goals in 21 of their 32 Premier League fixtures this season. Hosting Nottingham Forest, defensive frailties remain an issue for the home side, while the visitors are expected to attack with intensity in pursuit of UEFA Champions League football.
